If you need to get your hands on a specific document, here is where to start in Texas:
- Divorce and family court records: Contact the District Clerk in the county where the case was originally filed
- Divorce verification letters: Request through the Texas Department of State Health Services, Vital Statistics Unit
- Property deeds and land records: Reach the County Clerk in the county where the property is located
- Birth, death, and marriage records: Order through the Texas Department of State Health Services at (512) 776-7111
- Criminal history reports: Submit a request through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
